Jonas Janz: Scalable platforms. Scalable organizations.
I build scalable architectures and the organizations that run them. Board chairman, platform leader, cloud-native engineer.
I lead where strategy meets the platform. I chair the board of a 6,000-strong tech-user organization, I built and led a platform team at Lufthansa, and at Red Hat I helped enterprises build the platforms and the teams to run them.
Technology strategy only works when the architecture and the organization scale together. I design both, and I still build myself, most recently janz.cloud, an AI-agent venture.

Chairman of the Board · DOAG e.V.
Chairman of the Board. Leading at scale.
I chair the board of DOAG e.V., one of Germany’s largest independent organizations run by and for technology users: about 6,000 members across enterprises, the public sector and the developer community.
With the board and member committees I set strategy and governance, represent DOAG to vendors, partners and media, and sponsor its flagship conferences. My mandate: grow the network that connects the people who run Germany’s technology, keep it vendor-independent, and open it to new technology areas and the next generation of developers.

Origins
It started with pixels.
I started out designing games and building apps. The handle PixelJonas comes from that era: it was my name on the Pixelburg Podcast. And it’s still how I look at systems.
Every system is a game: mechanics, feedback loops, and players who will find the exploit before you do. That holds for platforms and for organizations. Design the incentives right, and the architecture follows.

Lufthansa · 2014–2020
Building the platform and the team.
Aviation taught me enterprise scale, where reliability isn’t optional. At Lufthansa I grew from my thesis to Project Lead Information Systems, leading a team of 12 cloud engineers that built a global development platform.
That was my first lesson in direct organizational leadership: a platform scales only as far as the team behind it. Integration is where architecture gets honest, and every interface is a promise someone else depends on.

Red Hat · 2020–now
Fluent in boardroom and kubectl.
At Red Hat I’ve worked every side of the table: architecting platforms, owning strategic accounts and driving cloud growth across Germany, regularly exceeding sales targets and building long-lasting relationships with customers and partners.
Here I scaled organizations indirectly: helping enterprises build their platforms and the platform teams to run them, and aligning technology with business goals. It’s the bridge a CIO or CTO needs: translate a business decision into a platform, and a platform back into a business case.

A leader who still ships.
Around 50 merged contributions to projects like Argo CD and Immich. At home, two OpenShift clusters run fully as code, with a self-hosted AI stack and an ops agent on top.
It keeps my decisions honest: I know what modern platforms and AI agents can do in real operations, because I run them myself.

janz.cloud · Founded 2026 · in build
Agents do the work. Humans sign.
janz.cloud is my early-stage venture, built from zero: AI agents for architectural and administrative work, from document management to strategic support for executives. Product, architecture and roadmap are mine.
I’m putting frontier models like Claude to work while keeping data private, using modern AI techniques. One rule stays fixed: automate execution, keep human sign-off.

Focus areas
- 01
Strategic AI partnership
For executives and boards: AI strategy, roadmap, governance and adoption.
- 02
Architecture agents
Agents that draft the architecture work. Architects decide.
- 03
Administrative agents
From document management to executive support. A human signs off.
What’s coming next
- Documents
Document intelligence
Turns paper piles into searchable, structured knowledge.
- Tax
Administrative tax agent
Prepares the paperwork. A human signs, it never files.
- Meetings
Local-first meeting intelligence
Pluggable speech recognition and speaker separation. No generative AI touches the raw transcript.
- Ops
Infrastructure ops agent
Alert-driven remediation with tightly scoped permissions.
Off the clock
Off the clock, I still engineer things.

I’m an avid gamer and a TTRPG game master who runs campaigns like engineered projects. I also build and tune my own 3D printer.
Curiosity is the common thread. It’s also why I’m good at the first conversation about something nobody has done before.
